| Q. |
How many photographers/assistants
will attend my event? |
| A. |
Norman and Lauren
will attend your event. GREYSTONE Photographics never
contracts their work out to other photographers. You
get what you see. |
| |
|
| Q. |
Do you use digital
cameras or film cameras? Do you use a 35mm or medium
format camera? or a combo? |
| A. |
We are 100% digital.
We use Nikon DX2's and Nikon D70s's. Unfortunately, film is no longer available for the cameras we use. We can not even purchase the film we'd need to do that any longer. According to Norman, this is sad. Lauren loves digital though ; ) |

|
| Q. |
Do you have a
photojournalist background? |
| A. |
Yes. See
our resumes for more information. |
| |
|
| Q. |
How many pictures do you take? How many pictures do I get? |
| A. |
We take anywhere from 1,000 to 1,400 pictures at any given wedding. We typically hand over 300+ photos, depending on the amount
of hours photographed. Trust me, you will be overwhelmed by the number of images to view! |
| |
|
| Q. |
When will my pictures be ready? |
| A. |
In approximately 2
weeks your proofs will be available online and
your DVD of proofs will be ready for
you. |
| |
|
| Q. |
Is an Formal
Album included? If yes, how many photos? |
| A. |
Our Gold Package includes a formal album and 2 parent albums. In the other packages, Formal
albums are extra and can be ordered with as many
photos as you'd like, prices are based on album style and spreads/pages. |
| |
|
| Q. |
Why don't your packages include albums? |
| A. |
Our Gold Package does! We aren't specific on the exact album, because the albums and press options are changing so rapidly ( there are literally new options for what to do with your photographs almost every day!), that to pick just one vendor and style for the albums would be a bad idea. We want you to tell us what you want and that way you don't pay for something that has already been replaced with a better product. See
the "Your Album" page for
more information. |
| |
|
| Q. |
What are the
total number of hours of coverage for price listed? |
| A. |
Coverage ranges
from 4 to 8 hours, depending on the package
that you select. Additional hours are available at
$200 per hour. |
| |
|
| Q. |
Do
you ever provide a proof album? |
| A. |
Typically all of our proofs are now done online through collages.net. This can however be done if you'd prefer a book. For an additional cost, a personalized
proof book can be created. |
| |
|
| Q. |
What is the tax
percentage rate? |
| A. |
The Maryland
sales tax rate is 6%. Thank you Governor O'Malley. |
| |
|
| Q. |
How
far do you travel? |
| A. |
Due to increasing
gas prices, we charge for extra travel outside of 75
miles from White Hall, Maryland. See
a map of travel distances. |
| |
|
| Q. |
What are the
sizes of the low resolution proofs? |
| A. |
Since our proofs are digital, the proof DVD we give to you contains all images taken at a low resolution (400x600px). These pictures are fine for referencing and emailing or using online. We made the decision to retain the high resolution files for several reasons. First, the size of each of the high resolution photos is between 12 and 20MB; this would shut most standard home computers down, and we'd prefer not to be responsible for that so we do not typically give them to clients. Secondly, when we keep the originals, we duplicate them before we leave your reception and then twice more once we get home. That way if anything happens we have several copies. If we gave you the original, and you lost it or a fire occurred, you'd be out of luck. Third, when you print one of our files at a local drug store, super store or warehouse club, these facilities do not maintain the same high standards of quality control that our professional color lab adheres to. You will not be happy with the results, as you would if we printed them for you. Therefore we only hand off the low res versions. |
| |
|
| Q. |
Do you ever sell the original high resolution files? |
| A. |
They are not for sale and they are never destroyed. You may order photos from us years later... |
| |
|
| Q. |
Do you offer the rights to reprint the photographs? |
| A. |
No. High Resolution images are not for sale and they are never destroyed. You may order photos from us years later. We trust our labs more than we trust the color and processing standards at say Walgreens or Walmart. When you print one of our files at a local drug store, super store or warehouse club, these facilities do not maintain the same high standards of quality control that our professional color lab adheres to. You will not be happy with the results, as you would if we printed them for you. Having poor reprints damages our reputation as professional photographers. Also, may places are cracking down on copyright laws and our images are copyrighted. Most stores can not legally print our images. Therefore we only hand off the low resolution versions. Our print prices are very reasonable and we can work with you to make sure you can afford all the reprints you want. |

|
| Q. |
So you won't sell us the originals? Under no circumstances? You realize that this is a deal breaker, right? "Joe Cameraguy at Photos By Joe" will hand me all of my images on a DVD... |
| A. |
We understand this and we know that if you really want the rights to your images you will go with Joe Cameraguy. Please understand though that if something happens to your original files, Joe will have no way to help you years from now, nor will he want to. He has written you off as a client. We don't believe in writing people off. We look forward to helping you for many years down the line. In this case, Joe Cameraguy may be a better choice for a photographer than Norman and I are. We know that we have colleagues out there who are selling their "negatives", however we choose to hold on to them, so that we can help you later. Trust us, we have already been thanked time and time again for doing this when a bride looses her album in a flood or all the pictures are destroyed in a fire. Things happen. Backups are good. That said, if you really, really want your images... all rights can be sold for $5,000. This may change in 30 or 40 years, but yes. In 2008, we are *that serious* about our work and maintaining it's quality and integrity. Yes, we are that committed to helping you many years from now. |

|
| Q. |
Can you do Black & White
or Sepia images? |
| A. |
We shoot using
high quality Nikon digital SLR cameras which use incredibly
high resolution. Color photos can easily be turned into
black and white or sepia (Photoshop is a wonderful thing!) Collages.net allows
you to see your images in all three formats and allows
you to choose which to purchase. |
